Lasell works

This is a unique career preparation program that launches students into their professional futures. For four years, students who take part in the Lasell Works program receive tuition reduction and instruction from expert faculty, which helps them grow into marketable and successful employees in their fields. 

Honors program

The Honors Program offers an intensive setting for intellectual and social development. It promotes independent thinking, social responsibility, enthusiasm for intellectual inquiry, and appreciation for the power of ideas.

The Honors Program strives to produce interdisciplinary thinkers and problem-solvers with a critical moral sensibility. This program helps students gain skills to research problems from several angles and develop leadership strategies to organize action and implement solutions.

Writing program

This program allows students to engage in writing throughout their entire educational career at Lasell University. First-year students take two writing courses, Writing I and Writing II, and upper-class students take two Writing Intensive courses in their major.

Additionally, students have access to other courses that will help them develop their writing skills.

To help perfect the skill, this program grant students access to several university publications where they get to submit essays and articles for publication.

Fresh Thoughts is a yearly publication of top student essays from Writing I, as well as artwork from our Graphic Design students.

Fifth year option

The Fifth Year Option at Lasell University allows undergraduate students with high academic standing to earn both their undergraduate and graduate degrees in as little as five years and save a good amount of money in the process. 

Qualified students can earn up to 12 graduate credits prior to starting their master’s degree at a bachelor degree price. 

Please note, earned credit will depend upon the student’s undergraduate coursework, blended semesters and program of choice. The Fifth Year Option does not apply to all graduate-level programs.

Lasell University Acceptance Rate and Admission Requirements

Lasell University admissions are less selective with an acceptance rate of 84% and an early acceptance rate of 89%. Half the applicants admitted to Lasell University have an SAT score between 980 and 1170 or an ACT score of 20 and 25. However, one-quarter of admitted applicants achieved scores above these ranges, and one quarter scored below these ranges. The application deadline is rolling and the application fee at Lasell University is $40.

For Transfer Students

  • Official college/university transcripts (if you have earned more than 12 college credits or an Associate degree)
  • Official results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or other English proficiency exams (if your native language is not English)

For International Students

Besides the items listed in the Completed Application Checklist, International students must also submit:

  • Official results of the TOEFL, IELTS, Pearson, or Duolingo English Test
  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended (if you are a Transfer International student)
  • A copy of your current I-20 Form (if you are a Transfer International student already in the United States)

Full-Time Tuition: Covers the instructional costs for a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 18 credit hours per semester. Students exceeding 18 credit hours per semester will be charged per additional credit. 

Part Time Tuition: Is charged per credit hour for registered credits under 12. 

Comprehensive Fee: Pays for services available to all students, such as student activities, use of the University Health Center, technology services, athletic facilities, graduation, transfer credit evaluation, and original identification cards.

Lasell offers a variety of institutionally funded Lasell University Scholarships. Lasell University Awards are gift aid, which is not to be repaid. All incoming freshers and full-time students will be considered for the Lasell University scholarships based on academic merit

The following Institutional Financial Assistance is offered to Upperclassmen based on merit and need.

Lasell Alumni Scholarship 

The Lasell University Alumni Association awards a Lasell junior or senior with the Lasell University Alumni Association Scholarship. For students to qualify for the scholarship, they must:

1. Be a junior or senior in September 2022
2. Have completed at least one full year at Lasell
3. Have a grade-point average of at least 3.5
4. Contributed to the Lasell community

Complete the application form to receive a Lasell University Alumni Association Scholarship in the 2022-2023 academic year.

Florence Adams Scholarship
Established by former trustee Lydia A. Godsoe ’18 in honor of her mother. Preference given to “deserving students from the State of Maine.”

The Joan Weiler Arnow ’49 and Robert H. Arnow Scholarship
Established in 1995 to provide scholarship assistance to students who demonstrate academic achievement, civic responsibility, and demonstrated financial need. The income from this endowment gift provides for three scholarships annually; one per returning class. Funds from this scholarship may be reassigned to the same student for up to three years if the student continues to exemplify the outstanding qualities upon which the original assignment was made.

Virginia Thomas Baxter ’39 Endowed Scholarship
Established in 1997 to provide scholarship support for a worthy student with financial need.

Emma Gilbert Carver Scholarship
Given by the family of Emma Gilbert Carver, Class of 1945.

Lucille Huse Chapell ’37 Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 2009 to provide scholarship support to needy and worthy students.

Max M. and Marian M. Farash Scholarship
Established in 1973 by Mr and Mrs Farash of Rochester, New York.

Toni Kennedy Gelotte ’56 Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 2011 to provide scholarship support for deserving students with financial needs.

Jason C. Georgilas Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 2001 by Katherine E. Meredith ’94 in memory of Jason C. Georgilas, son of Linda Georgilas ’94.  The income from this fund will be used to provide scholarship support for needy and deserving students, with a preference given to students in Allied Health.

Anti-Distracted Driving Scholarship

Overview: According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), distracted driving in the United States results in nine deaths and more than 1,000 injuries every day. The winning applicant will submit a video of 90 seconds or less that helps encourage drivers to stay focused on the road.
